Extreme Challenge

3 Mountain Logo

Today’s competition was on Madonna Liftline just below mid-station with athletes 18 years old and younger. The skills that these athletes displayed were quite impressive. There were competitors from many Vermont resorts, Jackson Hole, and even Alaska. The competition continues tomorrow on Upper Madonna Liftline from Catwalk down to the Robin’s Run work road. The best place to watch all the action will be from the Madonna I chairlift. Tomorrow we plan to have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating. We have 74 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. We received 3 inches of new snow last night. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 8 to 30 inches. 33 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Upper FIS, Smugglers’ Alley, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 133 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is sunny and 20 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with a high of 37 degrees at the base and 28 degrees at higher elevations. Today we made snow on Birch Run. Tonight we plan to make snow on Snow Snake and Lower Morse Liftline.

The Nordic Center is open with 15 km of snowshoeing and 17 km of cross-country trails. The ice rink is presently closed.

This weekend the featured beer for the apres sports parties at Bootlegger’s and the Black Bear Tavern is Bud Light.
