It was adding up quickly

This 5 inches of new snow was a great plus. It started off wet and heavy, which will help build up our base. The temperature dropped throughout the day and the snow started drying out. The fresh snow will insulate the wet snow underneath and it will bond. Fluffy light snow is nice, but you go right through it. The wet snow has density and structure. This will help us open natural snow trails in the near future. Speaking of snow we are going to be making snow tonight on Madonna Mountain. Our snowmakers will focus their efforts on Lower FIS, Mulcahy’s Link, and Lower Madonna Liftline. Tomorrow we plan to have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains. We plan to have the Madonna II Lift, Sterling Lift, Morse Highlands Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, Village Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider all operating. We have 19 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. All 19 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley, Dixie’s Knoll, and Lower Chilcoot for a grand total of 84 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine-groomed and variable with average base depths of 6 to 24 inches. Currently, it is 18 degrees at the summit of Sterling with flurries. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a slight chance of a snow shower, a high of 19 degrees at the base, and 14 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Bundle up and enjoy the new snow.

This weekend the featured beer for the apres sports parties at Bootlegger’s and the Black Bear Tavern is Fiddlehead.

Uphill travel is open on Morse Mountain from 5 pm to 10 pm Friday through Wednesday. Morse Mountain is closed Thursday evenings due to fireworks and Cat Trax Tours.

Madonna and Sterling are presently closed to uphill travel until we have more trails open. Stay tuned for updates.
