S.T.E.M. Specialty Program

Join us for a S.T.E.M.-filled week where budding engineers, scientists, and naturalists unite! Tackle engineering puzzles, delve into the mysteries of Vermont’s ecosystems, and construct both the tiny and the tremendous. Each day brings field explorations, interactive games, and themed group projects, capped with a choice of focused, hands-on activities in the afternoon. We’ll conclude with a refreshing swim to relax and reflect on the day’s discoveries.

Choose a different project, problem, or puzzle each day!

Feathered, Furry & Fierce: Dive into the world of predators and prey, uncovering the unique adaptations that ensure their survival. Focus Choices: Owl Pellet Dissection or Squid Dissection.

Build It & Break It: Harness critical thinking and creativity with the engineering design process to create and test models. Focus Choices: Catapults or Egg Drop.

Soar, Rattle & Roll: Investigate the diverse forms of movement in nature and their influence on human inventions. Focus Choices: Marble Mazes or Parachutes.

Earth, Fire & Water: Explore environmental impacts and conservation, questioning where snow and wastewater go at Smuggs. Focus Choices: Forest Fires or Mudslides.

Home Is Where You Make It: Examine the various shelters built by animals and humans alike. Focus Choices: Giant Blueprints or Bridges.
